Dear guests, judges and participants!

As we can see in the past, the development of the humanity cannot happen without affection on the environment. In response to this action, The UN and other environmental organizations began publishing reports and convening conferences where they developed different methods and hypothesis for preventing eco disasters and creating new ways to product energy sources.

The environmental problems which became more and more disturbing in the 1980s caused the world leaders and the society as a whole to take into consideration the beginning of work towards solution of those problems.

The publication of the Brundtland Report laid the groundwork for the convening of the first Earth Summit and the adoption of Agenda 21.

The United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio this year aimed at reconciling the economic and environmental goals of the global community. The primary result of the conference was the nonbinding document "The Future We Want”.

In this moment of history the topic of “sustainable development” grows more critical. Sustainable Development stands for a better quality of life for everyone, now and for generations to come. This requires profound changes in thinking, in economic and social structures and in consumption and production patterns. The three main pillars of sustainable development include economic growth, environmental protection and social equality. And that’s why as a solution we would like to offer:

  1. A gradually switching to green economy that in total will broaden the horizons for new achievements in economic sphere as well as in society. The concept of green economy was urged to combine and guarantee more sustainable interaction between them. It can become a good-enough solution for all groups of countries. The green economy does not exist in parallel to the traditional economy, but it includes similar activities and processes. The largest influence of the green economy on employment is in terms of jobs being adapted or reallocated. Green economy is not a job killer, but if properly managed, it can lead to more and better jobs, poverty reduction and social inclusion. Nowadays there are organizations that put the concept of green economy into practice. And as we see it, such organizations should obtain more attention and sources from the world community. As an example we can mention the UN ESCAP, which includes fifty-three countries as members, and nine countries as associate member

  1. In a long-term perspective the renewable resources will gain benefit not only for the economy, but for the environment and the safety of people. And it leads us to our second proposal - the worldwide adoption of the renewable resources. Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources, which are renewable (naturally replenished). There are five main types of renewable resources, solar, wind, hydropower, geothermal and biomass. Many countries today are increasing their use of renewable energy to replace traditional ones, such as coal and petroleum. Nowadays, The USA, China, Brazil, Canada, Korea, Germany and the Scandinavian countries are at the top list of producing renewable resources.

  1. But no matter how good these methods of the renewable energy might be, they will be useless without a proper educational background. People should be careful about the way they treat the nature and its resources. That’s why the education point of the whole program is important. Environmental education should be taught not only to children but to adults as well. Access to quality basic adult education is a concern in many countries. In this innovative study, we would like to make a point in adult education, and how an ecological approach to education, focusing on the cultural traditions and natural environments of communities. Education should involve the transmission of knowledge and know-how within an environment appropriate to the students. As an example, modern environmental education already exists in the USA, Canada.

In conclusion, from our point of view, the steps that we noted would not only be useful in the future, but would be conductive to maintain the sustainable peace and the proper usage of natural resources.

  • A gradual switching to green economy;
  • A combination of traditional and renewable resources;
  • Modern environmental education.

Reducing our ecological affect to avoid further compromising the integrity of the global ecosystem is now widely recognized as the most urgent task of our time.

We would like to share a great quote that can become a motto for the whole sustainable development concept and our project: “We believe we may not need something new, but need to reawaken something very old, to reawaken our understanding of Earth wisdom.”
